King George, Virginia

24 February 2020

Fellow Members of the King George TEA Party:

Our next monthly meeting will be Thursday 5 March.  As noted in previous e-mails, there will be an opportunity for anyone wishing to address the KGTP membership and express their desire to lead the KGTP as Chairman.  No, we won’t use a stop watch to keep time… but please do try to limit your comments to 5 minutes per person.  We will hold an election for Chairman during the April meeting.

Probably the most notable news article for this past two weeks is this one:

If this is true as reported, I urge you to further resolve to help vote ALL of the Democrats out of the Virginia legislature as their elections come up.  Yes, it will take a few years to clean house (House, Senate, and Governor)… but it is important to do so.  This kind of thing is unacceptable.  In the mean time, someone has set up a Go Fund Me page that you might want to take a look at.  No, I have NO information about the person putting this together… so “buyer beware."

I suspect that everyone has been popping just as much popcorn as I have as we watch the Democrats hold their primaries.  I truly do find it Earth-shattering to see that there really are people willing to select a self-proclaimed Socialist as their representative for any position within government.  I would love to call this entertaining… but it is more scary than anything.

Most everyone is forecasting that the Democrats will wind up holding a “contested convention” where Bernie Sanders holds the Democrat’s popular vote but does not have sufficient delegates to clinch the nomination.  The “super delegates” will then have the opportunity to weigh in and I am quite sure they will all select Mike Bloomberg.  That is going to send all of the Bernie Bros into a tizzy (which will be entertaining in itself).  Aside from whatever happens there… Mini Mike will probably end up being the Democrat’s nominee for President… and President Trump will end up wiping him up with a mop during each of the debates and the November election.

So get some popcorn to watch the show.

And for those that would like to provide the Democrats an “assist” during their election, the below (lightly edited) e-mail from Bob outlines what you can do.  Hehehehe…

  • Jim,

  • We have an unusual opportunity on 3 Mar 2020.  The Democratic Party will hold its primary election for President in Virginia on March 3, 2020.  The Republican Party voted to cancel its primary for President.

  • So all of us in Virginia can help the DEMs select their presidential candidate on 3 Mar.

  • xxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Reminder to avoid confusion:  There will be a Republican primary on 9 June 2020 for the 11 Virginia seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and one of the Virginia seats in the U.S. Senate.

And now for some news (LOTS of news, as I am trying to catch up for 2 weeks worth of information):

TEA Party / Nationalism Movement

From the top article below:

  • "However, Petersen said that listening to his constituents and pro-Second Amendment activists were very 'helpful' and mattered to his decision-making process.  'I probably would have voted the same way anyhow, but it was important to hear from people,' he concluded."

So there you have it: The input that We The People Of Virginia provide to our elected representatives really does make a difference.  Lets keep doing it.

Taxes / Taxed Enough Already

From the top article below:

  • "As Breitbart News previously reported, illegal alien births to their U.S.-born children cost American taxpayers nationwide about $2.4 billion every year. Roughly one-in-four births that are paid for by taxpayers are those to an immigrant, legal or illegal. This accounts for 429,000 immigrant births every year that taxpayers subsidize. Illegal aliens births of anchor babies make up 11 percent — or about 198,000 births — of all births that are paid for by American taxpayers."

Even though this study focused on less-populated states I expect that the effects scale up to more populated states such as Virginia.

Regulation

From the top article below:

  • "With the recent election in Virginia returning a Democrat-majority legislature in a state with a Democrat governor, Virginia is heading down the same path as California, although that's not immediately obvious. While the national press has covered the government’s attacks on the Second Amendment and its attempted end-run around the Electoral College, there are a host of other planned or passed initiatives that are fundamentally changing a state that, because of James Madison, was the birthplace of the Constitution."

We The People Of Virginia have not yet been impacted by any of the current legislation that has passed in Richmond.  This is the primary reason that these regulations have not received any notoriety.  But when they do I expect that there will be an immediate response that drives people to the polls.  Unfortunately, it is always more difficult to “undo” bad legislation than it is to enact it.

Economy

From the top article below:

  • "One foundational policy that continues to drive job creation is tax reform. Since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act—the biggest package of tax cuts and tax reforms in our country’s history—took effect, more than 4 million jobs have been created and economic growth has beaten previous projections. America’s outdated tax code drove away businesses and investment, but tax reform has brought rates down and made the United States globally competitive again."

This is a comprehensive report that outlines the strategy being used to Make America Great Again.  We should all celebrate the positive effects of reduced taxes for all (which was the motivating factor that created the TEA Party in the first place) and ensure that future administrations hold the line against raising them.

Patriotism / America First

From the top article below:

  • “… what matters most is God, family, and country."

I hope that President Trump plans on similarly attending the Indianapolis 500 this year as well.

First Amendment / Freedom of Speech / Freedom of Religion

From the top article below:

  • "This year, we also bestow a special distinction upon Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. FIRE has criticized RPI’s censorship so much in recent years that those three letters are starting to rub off of our keyboards. For ruining our computer equipment and maintaining a years-long rap sheet of flagrant censorship, FIRE awards RPI with the Lifetime Censorship Award — reserved for a college or university that threatens the free speech rights of its students and faculty so often that it deserves individual infamy. We couldn’t think of a more worthy recipient than the Sensational Sentinels of Censorship of Troy, New York."

OK, I get that the above quote has some humor injected into the discussion… but when you look at the list of these 10 colleges you realize that (for the most part) are widely recognized as elite, “ivy league” schools.  Harvard University is on the list.  University of Connecticut - a state-supported school - is on the list.

Second Amendment / Right to Keep and Bear Arms

From the top article below:

  • "Which brings us to the compliments we got from law enforcement—who told us they were not sure what to expect. For many police officers in the liberal bubble of northern Virginia, many had never dealt with this kind of major gathering of gun rights supporters.  We were thanked heartily for our efforts to keep a path open on the sidewalk for uninvolved pedestrians and for our disciplined approach to avoid even inadvertent physical contact with the agitated Bloombots.  One officer told us our demonstration was the “gold standard” in the use of the First Amendment."

The pictures in this article are fantastic, as are the videos.

Abortion / Right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

From the top article below:

  • "'I pray that you may understand that all life is precious and worthy of a chance to be born. God is the giver of life and people have no right or authority to take life. The unborn have rights and those rights need to be protected. They should never be denied the right to exist, the right to develop or the right to have a family,' he said from the podium."

I have a hard time understanding why anyone would consider this offensive.  Unless they were evil.

Corruption / Rule of Law

From the top article below:

  • "The myriad conflicts of interest that Donald Trump has been falsely accused of over the past four years pale in comparison to the potential conflicts of Michael Bloomberg, particularly with regard to America's primary global adversary, China.  Further, on a daily basis, new stories emerge concerning his tyrannical management style, egocentrism, racial insensitivity, and overt sexism — all factors that should be determinative in disqualifying anyone for a major political party presidential nomination."

This ought to disqualify Mini Mike from ANY position within the US Government, let alone as President.

National Sovereignty / Border Security / Illegal Alien Invasion

From the top article below:

  • "The Border Patrol’s 29,200 apprehensions along the southwestern border is the at its lowest in nearly two years, and the number of children and families — the toughest cases — is at its lowest since 2017."

Finally… some good news for a change.  Statistics like these will only improve as the border is more secured.

Conservatism / Capitalism

From the top article below:

  • “'Conservatives should give this a lot of thought,' Lind said. 'Because if you don’t want the government to subsidize people or to subsidize the things they purchase, then you need one of two things or both things in combination. One is their wages have to be high enough for them to buy necessities. But the other is the cost of necessities cannot be so exorbitant that only the elite can pay for them.'”

And this seems to be what the Trump administration is doing to shape the economy.  Reducing regulation and taxes is putting more money into people’s pockets and addressing the trade tariff imbalance (especially with China) is reducing the cost of imported products for the consumer.

Socialism / Creeping Socialism

From the top article below:

  • "Yes, I say ‘socialist' like it’s a bad thing. This is because it’s a very bad thing. Like, to the tune of 100 million corpses bad thing. I’ve actually lived in the ruins of socialism and you, well, you had a man-bunned sociology TA tell you it was swell. And you believed him because you are a dupe. Be glad that I am assuming that you are stupid instead of the only other reason one would ever cavort with these blood-stained goblins: that you are evil."

This article was a true joy to read.  This article has printed all of those thoughts you have in your head but were afraid to say out loud.

Censorship / Social Media Censorship

From the top article below:

  • "But my story shows the lengths that the Bloomberg machine will go to in order to avoid offending Beijing. Bloomberg’s company, Bloomberg LP, is so dependent on the vast China market for its business that its lawyers threatened to devastate my family financially if I didn’t sign an NDA silencing me about how Bloomberg News killed a story critical of Chinese Communist Party leaders. It was only when I hired Edward Snowden’s lawyers in Hong Kong that Bloomberg LP eventually called off their hounds after many attempts to intimidate me."

This article should be read in conjunction with the article highlighted in the Corruption / Rule of Law section above, as they go hand-in-hand.

Denial / Deception / Propaganda / Social Engineering

From the top article below:

  • "The Wall Street Journal reported that Bloomberg’s campaign hired 500 “deputy digital organizers” in California to promote the 78-year-old multibillionaire through daily social media posts and weekly text messages to everyone on their contact lists.  The effort is a test-pilot in California for now, but could be expanded to other states if successful."

Fake News has now morphed into Fake Friends.  If this expands then at some point everyone on the Internet will not trust anyone - even those on their Contact List.

Attacks Against Conservatives

From the top article below:

  • "A month later, Louis was horrified to recognize the woman who stole his MAGA hat as Beth Peller, a 36-year-old grad student who would be teaching his mandatory freshman writing class. Louis could not change his schedule, so he shaved his head and mustache, prayed that she would not recognize him, and wrote the essays she assigned with the correct leftist opinions she all but demanded. Beth regaled her students with war stories about her time organizing violent anarchist movements, but never recognized the seemingly complaisant student as her victim from the protest. Louis got an A."

This seems to be typical on university campuses today.  In some ways it reflects what my own kids experienced themselves.  Fact is, at one point I had to intervene on their behalf.

Elections / Vote Integrity

From the top article below:

  • “'It’s time to give the elites a bigger say in choosing the president'”

This is America.  We don’t have “elites” here.  And no, We The People - All of us - will choose our President.
