King George, Virginia

27 January 2020

Fellow Members of the King George TEA Party:

This Newsletter is both being sent out as an e-mail and posted on the KGTP webpage.  I think that we will want to transition completely to a webpage-only platform as that will eliminate some of the e-mail distribution problems that have been encountered (it seems that cox.net doesn’t permit e-mails from our address, among other issues).  More important, however, is the fact that folks not on the distro list can independently see what we are doing and get involved.

GENTLE REMINDER: Next week, on Thursday 6 February, will be our next monthly meeting.  We will host
Daniel Gade (who is running to unseat Mark Warner, see https://gadeforvirginia.com) and Dakota Worrell (who is Regional Field Director for the Republican Party of Virginia, see www.virginia.gop).  At the risk of repeating myself from last week’s e-mail, below are links for information about Daniel Gade so that you can prepare questions after his presentation.

During his presentation, Dakota will relay to everyone what efforts are being made NOW to ensure a Republican clean sweep in Virginia on election day this November and how we can help toward that effort.  He outlined these points during last week’s get-together at Vinny’s Restaurant (attended by both KG Republican Committee folks and KGTP folks) and I greatly appreciated the fact that things are getting organized now instead of waiting until early Fall (when it will be too late to be effective).  While many staunch Conservatives are reluctant to (re)elect Donald Trump for President, the reality is that the success that he has had in turning the country around has been phenomenal AND the alternative to President Trump’s re-election is either Socialist Bernie Sanders or corrupt Joe Biden (Elizabeth Warren’s viability seems to be fading fast).  The best scenario for King George County, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and America is to actively support the Republican's campaign efforts.

Jeff Bueche, Board of Supervisor’s member representing the Monroe district, asked that I pass on to everyone a link to his FaceBook page, located here:

There is a TON of great information to be found there specifically focusing on local, King George county, issues.  His 24 January post regarding the sanctity of life, however, is something that must be highlighted.  As the Second Amendment Sanctuary movement draws to a close (after being wildly successful in motivating Virginians to stand up for our inalienable rights) we must turn our attention to another issue that is an affront to our conservative values: abortion.  For just one reminder, here is reporting from the Washington Post:

Discussions with Jeff, several other like-minded conservatives, and news reporting indicates that preserving the sanctity of life is the “next big issue” to rally behind.  Please help us as we develop that momentum and, as was done last week during Lobby Day, bring that issue front-and-center to our representatives in Richmond.

TEA Party / Nationalism Movement

From the top article below:

  • "Brussels is planning to hit Britain where it hurts the most. The European Commission, the EU’s executive arm, has drawn up a hit list to target the British financial sector for defying the EU to dictate regulations following the Brexit.  'Commission officials told European Union diplomats they had identified 40 different types of financial services that could be frozen out of the EU’s market at a meeting in Brussels earlier this week,' The Telegraph disclosed in a separate report."

It is fantastic that Britain saw through the European Union’s creeping totalitarianism and have taken the necessary steps to preserve their nation’s sovereignty.  For them, 31 January 2020 will be akin to America’s 4 July 1776.

Regulation

From the top article below:

  • "The provisions of this section shall not apply to (i) balloons released by or on behalf of any agency of the Commonwealth, or the United States or pursuant to a contract with the Commonwealth, the United States, or any other state, territory or government..."

For your own amusement you need to read this bill in order to see just how ridiculous some Virginia legislation can become.  After doing that, then recognize that the above passage says, in effect, “do as I say, not what I do.”  This bill needs to be defeated.

Patriotism / America First

From the top article below:

  • "The labor participation rate is breaking records. Unemployment is at historic lows across all demographics. Wages are increasing, faster for those at the lower income levels than for those at the top. China has agreed to a historic trade deal. Congress (finally) passed the new US-Mexico-Canada trade deal which will create jobs across the continent. The stock market keeps breaking records despite impeachment. There’s almost too much good news to pack into one paragraph. It all points to growing American strength just a few years after President Barack Obama mused aloud about a 'post-American world.'”

As my mother-in-law is fond of saying, “Welcome to the Trump train” which echoes Ronald Reagan’s “A rising tide lifts all boats.”  This is what an America First policy will deliver.

First Amendment / Freedom of Speech / Freedom of Religion

From the top article below:

  • “Either we all are allowed to educate our children according to our religious beliefs, or some get to impose their religious beliefs on others. There are no two ways about it. There is no such thing as a school that does not teach religion. There is only such a thing as a school that teaches that religion is unimportant, false, foolhardy, a side matter, unrelated to 'real life,' a private matter, or not worth considering. These are all religious teachings — or antireligious teachings. Whatever you call them, they are not religiously neutral. They are religiously biased."

This is a fundamental issue that goes to the heart of who we are as Americans.  The First Amendment guarantees the freedom of speech, the freedom of religion, and the freedom of assembly.  The Founding Fathers never promoted religious censorship as is practiced today.

Second Amendment / Right to Keep and Bear Arms

From the top article below:

  • "You are at an extraordinary moment in history and the rest of us in states, counties, and cities across the country (all of us dealing with rights grabs like you, some at stages earlier than others) are watching you, praying for you, and depending on you. How you choose to use your time and impact your community will send shockwaves throughout the rest of the country. Do not be distracted from your good work by bad actors sent to incite, antagonize, and sabotage your efforts. Stay relentlessly focused. Speak truth and ignore every provocation tomorrow. That is not the day for it."

The above was posted the day BEFORE this past Lobby Day.  We can all recognize now, in 20/20 hindsight, that We The People Of Virginia stood tough, proud, and with conviction while defending our Second Amendment rights.  Virginia is well-deserved to represent to the rest of America how to peacefully protest against subversion of our Commonwealth’s Constitution as well as the Constitution of the United States of America.

Fourth Amendment / Right to Privacy

From the top article below:

  • "Other companies with direct access to user data include Amazon and Google’s parent company Alphabet.  The Journal also recently reported that Google has access to more records than first disclosed in a deal with the Mayo Clinic. Mayo officials say the deal allows the Rochester, Minn., hospital system to share personal information, though it has no current plans to do so. 'It was not our intention to mislead the public,' said Cris Ross, Mayo’s chief information officer."

How many other times have you read this section about some Tech Giant misleading the public about their privacy “intentions?”  Far too many times, I am sure.

Abortion / Right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

From the top article below:

  • "While Trump supports the March for Life and will become the first president to attend in person, 2020 Democrats celebrated Roe v. Wade on its 47th anniversary and would force taxpayers to foot the bill for abortion."

… AND force taxpayers to foot the bill for abortion?  It is no wonder that describing Democrats as being unhinged is appropriate:  Taxed Enough Already!

Corruption / Rule of Law

From the top article below:

  • "If Joe Biden were not running for president, would it have been improper — much less impeachable — for the successor President to ask for an investigation? Of course not.  So why does it become improper just because Biden decided to run for president? Does running for president create an immunity from investigation? If it does, that would be news to Donald Trump who was investigated by the Obama administration while Trump was running for president (over the failed Russia-collusion claim)."

The most unfortunate aspect of the above quote is that it is a clear example that there exists, pragmatically speaking, two tiers of justice in America.  That was a fundamental grievance our Founding Fathers held against the British monarchy and is something that, given time, will again be vehemently rejected by We The People.

National Sovereignty / Border Security / Illegal Alien Invasion

From the top article below:

  • “'This change is intended to address the national security and law enforcement risks associated with birth tourism, including criminal activity associated with the birth tourism industry,' a State Department official told Axios."

Said another way, “This change is intended to put America First, for Americans."

Conservatism / Capitalism

From the top article below:

  • "For the Left, outcomes trump procedure just as politics eclipses intelligence, conscientiousness, and competence. One thing I saw in more than 30 years in academia was that while leftists on the faculty were not always the brightest bulbs in the room, they often managed to populate university and department committees where policies were created and passed. While we were teaching and researching; they were reshaping the institution. We were getting on with our work, pushing our individual careers, getting our names in print, and believing we were advancing the field and the school. They were taking over. Put it this way: We were clueless, they were canny."

This Modus Operandi is repeated elsewhere as well… but the entire education system from Kindergarden through high school and to the university is flooded with leftist “influencers” who earnestly build their institutions closed to Conservatives.  Unfortunately, the cumulative influence -i.e., the social engineering- takes a toll on the values we instill in our children.

Socialism / Creeping Socialism

From the top article below:

  • "In fact, Cuban socialism has always been a mortal enemy of almost everything “hipsters” and Millennials claim to hold dear–a more implacable enemy, in fact, than were most Iron Curtain regimes. First off, notice the age of the typical half-dead Cuban rafter who washes up on south Florida’s beaches almost daily, often using his last reserves of energy to kiss the sand in gratitude. It’s rare to see one over 30."

The only reason that today’s misguided youth embrace Socialism, regardless of flavor, is because they have both never been taught the true history of Socialism and have never visited a Socialist country.  Anyone wearing a Che Guevara t-shirt ought to be given a ONE-WAY ticket to the Socialist country of their choice and asked, a few years later, whether or not they still embrace Socialism.

Censorship / Social Media Censorship

From the top article below:

  • "The social media site has adopted a broad policy against firearms promotion.  'Content intended to sell firearms, instruct viewers on how to make firearms, ammunition, and certain accessories, or instruct viewers on how to install those accessories is not allowed on YouTube,' the policy states. 'YouTube also doesn’t allow live streams that show someone holding, handling, or transporting a firearm.'"

Sounds to me like a childish policy in a country that fought the Revolutionary War for independence and then enshrine within its Constitution the Second Amendment.

Denial / Deception / Propaganda / Social Engineering

From the top article below:

  • "It's not hard to read between the lines of the Washington Post's coverage: 'Chants of 'U-S-A, U-S-A' broke out every few minutes, but by 10:15 a.m. there were no signs of violence or conflict with law enforcement officers.'  If you're a normal person, you probably noticed that ‘but.' The clear implication is that the sort of folks who get together and chant 'U-S-A' are prone to violence."

For grins and giggles, someone ought to make a comparison between the number of calls for violence at a typical Bernie Sanders rally versus during the Second Amendment Rally last week.

Attacks Against Conservatives

From the top article below:

  • "The Bernie Bro expressed admiration for the Soviet Gulags, said billionaires should be sentenced to breaking rocks, and suggested that anyone who opposes Sanders’ revolutionary policies would be shot."

You have to wonder if these people ever listen to themselves when they speak.

Elections / Vote Integrity

From the top article below:

  • "As one reporter put it, 'This isn’t about either of [the candidates] personally. This is about a man who has no connection to my corner of the world attempting to impose his agenda on a crucial local race without any real understanding of how that will impact the people who have to live with the fallout.'"

The same issue should be raised about Bloomberg’s financing of Virginia Democrat campaigns as well.
