Fellow Members of the King George TEA Party:

Sorry for the delay in getting this weekly Newsletter out earlier.  As noted, I spend this past weekend visiting my parents, returned on Tuesday evening, Wednesday I had my remaining Wisdom teeth extracted, and am now only able to get to it.

As this morning’s “gentle reminder” noted, we are hosting two guest speakers; Daniel Gade and Dakota Worrell.  While the next Newsletter will have a summary of the discussions there isn’t anything like attending in-person!

Tuesday night featured President Trump’s State of the Union speech.  It was fantastic by all accounts.  As noted in a friend’s e-mail, Trump’s message is full of heart for ordinary people.  It is signature Trump: “Our agenda is relentlessly pro-worker, pro-family, pro-growth, and, most of all, pro-American.”  A quote from the opening line:

  • "Three years ago, we launched the great American comeback. Tonight, I stand before you to share the incredible results. Jobs are booming, incomes are soaring, poverty is plummeting, crime is falling, confidence is surging, and our country is thriving and highly respected again! America’s enemies are on the run, America’s fortunes are on the rise, and America’s future is blazing bright."

For those that missed the opportunity, here are some links to the speech’s content:

There were many, many children in the House of Representatives during the SOTU, among the most visible was Nancy Pelosi (the others were all of the Democrats that refused to celebrate America’s successes outlined during the speech).  The following describes what she did immediately after the speech… but what was done in a very disrespectful manner:

The other notable issue this week is the abysmal failure during the Democrat’s Iowa caucus.  I am sure you have been able to read about it so I won’t belabor the point here.  What is notable was this snippet from Joe Biden about one of his competitors, Bernie Sanders.  After listening to ALL of the Democrats tout their various versions of Socialism during their campaigning and debates, it is almost comical to see how fearful they have become that an actual self-avowed Socialist is now in the lead for their party.

And finally one point that will be brought up during tonight’s monthly meeting will be the call for those interested in taking the position as KGTP Chairman.  The monthly meeting in March will feature brief (3-5 minute) speeches by anyone that would like to be considered for the position (so begin preparations if you are interested).  The monthly meeting in April will feature a vote for the Chairman.

And now for the news:

TEA Party / Nationalism Movement

From the top article below:

  • "Not only does voting matter—it has changed history. We have left the European Union against the counsel of virtually every sinew of power—the establishment, the media, the banks, the think tanks, the judiciary, celebrities, experts—the little people have won.  The psychology of this victory is tremendous. Had the establishment got its wish, the majority would never have voted again.  What would have been the point?"

There is much to admire about how Brexit has been achieved given all of the obstacles that they had to overcome - administratively with regard to the European Union, politically with regards to the monarchy’s “establishment”, and culturally with regards to popular support.  I truly hope that the USA establishes some fantastic trading partnerships in the near-term in order to buoy their economy.

Taxes / Taxed Enough Already

From the top article below:

  • "Despite spending far more on health care than other wealthy nations, the United States has the lowest life expectancy and the highest suicide rate, new research shows."

This just proves that you cannot throw money at a problem and expect a better outcome.

Regulation

From the top article below:

  • “'Thanks to our bold regulatory reduction campaign, the United States has become the number one producer of oil and natural gas in the world, by far,' Trump said.  'With the tremendous progress we have made over the past three years, America is now energy independent, and energy jobs, like so many elements of our country, are at a record high,' Trump said.

The fundamental elements to a nation’s economy are its energy resources, be they fuel, electricity, or personal initiative to succeed.  These sources of energy are what is driving the economy and with it our enthusiasm for the future.

Another one that is vitally important to read is the article below:

  • "The U.S. is concerned about the national security risk of relying on Huawei due to what the administration says is its significant links to the Chinese military."

Our nation MUST NOT allow China’s Huawei or ZTE communications infrastructure equipment into our networks.  I encourage you to do some personal research into why this is important for our nation’s security interests.

National Debt / Its the Spending, Stupid!

From the top article below:

  • "After screaming about spending for eight years of Obama, Republicans have been pretty silent about it during the Trump years. There has been no Republican discussion of entitlement reform, which makes things look more than a little partisan after all the shutdown fights over spending under Obama. Trump has taken the entitlement issue off the table completely, which makes sense politically since voters are not open to it, but from a policy perspective, we are getting closer and closer to the tipping point of a debt crisis."

As much as I agree that the Trump administration is improving our nation (AKA, Winning!), I am sorely disappointed that nothing has been done to reduce our nation’s debt.  This is a fundamental TEA Party interest as we prepare for future generations.

Economy

From the top article below:

  • "Here are Trump’s claims in the SOTU followed by charts demonstrating the amazingly low levels of unemployment the American economy achieved."

These charts reflect data that supports President Trump’s claims that our nation is on a strong trajectory.  Sure, there are a lot of cyclical trends in the data but the current forecast is definitely good.  As we roll into the 2020 election, the phrase, "It’s the economy, stupid” has taken on a fresh meaning now that it is Republican administration that can boast about it.

Patriotism / America First

From the top article below:

  • "Fox presented this tribute to America ahead of Super Bowl LIV in Miami."

This is the best 3 minutes you will have all day.  Watch it with your kids and explain to them some of the historical references made in this video that most likely were omitted in their school classroom.

First Amendment / Freedom of Speech / Freedom of Religion

From the top article below:

  • "Nessel’s low view of the First Amendment is shocking in an attorney general.  The amendment guarantees open and robust debate among competing points of view, which is vital to a functioning republic.  But through Nessel’s lens of progressive intolerance, she can only see the First Amendment as a shield for horrible people who slink around 'thinking hateful thoughts, saying hateful words, or associating with hate filled people.'”

The First Amendment protects ALL speech, not preferred speech.  As censorship of all types -especially regarding religious faith- takes hold our country loses the opportunity to advance for all.

Second Amendment / Right to Keep and Bear Arms

From the top article below:

  • "The controversies that have erupted across the state since then come as the members of the newly ascendant Democratic majority find themselves caught between the campaign donors who helped them secure control in Richmond and local residents angered by the gun-control proposals offered by those groups and the Democrats they backed. Those proposals include an outright ban on AR-15s, which elicited an intense backlash.   The outcome of the struggle will have an impact beyond the immediate struggles in the state that will determine the shape of a universal background check or 'red flag' law in Virginia. It may well shape the gun debate nationwide for years to come."

The above quote brings out a point described below with regard to how rich donors have taken control of Virginia’s legislators.  That explains why the Democrats have pressed ahead with gun control legislation that has been resoundingly rejected by We The People Of Virginia.  America is watching us, Virginia.

Fourth Amendment / Right to Privacy

From the top article below:

  • "However, the data collection is ongoing, the source and documents indicate. Instead of harvesting information through software attached to the browser, Avast is doing it through the anti-virus software itself. Last week, months after it was spotted using its browser extensions to send data to Jumpshot, Avast began asking its existing free antivirus consumers to opt-in to data collection, according to an internal document."

Time for everyone to check to see if they are running this software.  If  you are, please consider eliminating it from your system.  Those that are running it on their computers usually have a tagline at the e-mail’s signature indicating such.  Now we all will wonder if our e-mail addresses have also been shared with the third-party.

Abortion / Right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

From the top article below:

  • "'For more than three decades the NEA has denied taking a pro-abortion position. This vote removes all doubt about where they stand,' she said in a release. 'It is appalling and flies in the face of logic that America’s largest educators' union, claiming to speak for more than three million members nationwide, would side with the extreme abortion lobby in embracing an explicitly anti-child and anti-family stance. Furthermore, while purporting to be non-partisan, the Assembly went on record attacking President Trump and his pro-life agenda.'"

The opening line above just confirms what we have all known about the organization responsible for teaching America’s youth: they have been hiding their pro-abortion position only from overt scrutiny.  Now, “the cat is out of the bag” and we should expect that their position takes a more overt stance within the classrooms.

Corruption / Rule of Law

From the top article below:

  • "Our movement is about replacing a failed and corrupt political establishment with a new government controlled by you, the American People. There is nothing the political establishment will not do, and no lie they will not tell, to hold on to their prestige and power at your expense.  The Washington establishment, and the financial and media corporations that fund it, exists for only one reason: to protect and enrich itself."

What is being described above is, in essence, pure and unadulterated corruption.  This is why our Founding Fathers set up our Republic with mechanisms for a balance of power.  Unfortunately, if the representatives that we elect into office go unchecked by We The People than we have no one to blame but ourselves.  Accountability of our government officials is the only way to mitigate the human tendency to be self-serving.

National Sovereignty / Border Security / Illegal Alien Invasion

From the top article below:

  • "As one who has lived near the border my entire life and written extensively about illegal immigration, one of my frequent laments was that the U.S. never leaned on the Mexican government for help in addressing border problems. It was a glaring failure of both Democrat and Republican presidents."

Geeze, what a great idea to get Mexico to recognize that they need to secure their own borders as well.

Conservatism / Capitalism

From the top article below:

  • "This wouldn’t be a so-called “uni-party” election resulting in minor differences in the tax code, as it usually does.  Trump versus Sanders would be capitalism versus socialism"

It is easy to forecast that President Trump would handily defeat Bernie Sanders in a one-on-one election contest (especially during the debates that precede the election).  The real existential threat that Sanders presents to America is that he, an avowed Socialist, will be able to legitimize Socialism to the American audience.  His rise to parity with President Trump on ANY platform gives the impression to uneducated voters that Socialism is “just another form of government.”  The lack of education on this point within America’s schools has paved the way for this erroneous perspective to flourish.  And THAT is what should be feared most.

Socialism / Creeping Socialism

From the top article below:

  • "President Sanders would attempt to radically remake the United States into a socialist state further to the left, further indebted, and further internationalized than even Western Europe’s most liberal polities.  It would be a historical disaster of epic and perhaps irrevocable proportions."

Bernie Sanders will never be elected President.  40-years from now, and when today’s poorly educated Millennials have taken control of the levers of government power, may present a different challenge.  The “stink” of Socialism, and its eventual evolution to Communism, MUST be taught in our schools if we are to remain a Republic.

Censorship / Social Media Censorship

From the top article below:

  • "For years, this quasi-religious movement has throttled university professors and dissident scientists who dare to question the accuracy of computer-model-generated forecasts of doom.  But Congresswoman Kathy Castor has gone further.  The Florida Democrat, who chairs the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, wrote to Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Jan. 27, asking that the giant search engine crack down on YouTube videos that convey 'climate denial and climate misinformation.'”

This is unbelievable… that a government politician is asking (directing???) a media tech “giant” to impose content censorship upon American citizens.  Surely this is illegal from a First Amendment point of view.

Denial / Deception / Propaganda / Social Engineering

From the top article below:

  • "Former Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel published an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal on Saturday in which he declared that Democrats should use the 2020 election to establish 'a new Democratic ‘metropolitan majority’ that could last for years.  The phrase 'metropolitan majority' appears to refer to the idea that Democrats’ urban power base is destined to grow as the country becomes more diverse, especially if illegal aliens are naturalized as citizens."

What Rahm Emanuel is describing is the purpose of eliminating the Electoral College in order to subvert the will of rural America.  We have seen the effects here in Virginia where the population centers of northern and Tidewater Virginia significantly influence voting (Governor, Senators, etc.).  This is NOT what the Founding Fathers had when they established our Republic.

Attacks Against Conservatives

From the top article below:

  • "The anti-conservative movement in academe, a field that falsely claims to worship the “Marketplace of Ideas” and “Academic Freedom,” is particularly devastating to the competition of views, opinions and beliefs to win support in the minds of students, young and old. The hostility to conservativism, has been increasing slowly for over 50 years and precipitously increased after 2016, the year of Donald Trump’s ascendancy to the presidency."

The 1960s college students began the trend away from diversity of thought to where, on today’s college campus, a radical form of uni-thought has taken root.  There are many stories that confirm this trend and there is not an effective push-back that can be seen to date.  The only way to combat this is to teach elementary, middle, and high school children the importance of alternate viewpoints.  Doing so will mitigate the radical’s tendency toward violence.

Elections / Vote Integrity

From the top article below:

  • "Michael Bloomberg, the Wall Street billionaire whom D.C.’s flunky press affectionately calls “mayor of the world,” seeks to drown all of that out with his private wealth. He doesn’t like the man voters put in the White House, so he’s going to spend billions of dollars to undo it."

Elsewhere the term, “oligarch” is used to describe Michael Bloomberg.  That description seems quite appropriate.  For an equivalent parallel, do an Internet search for what a “Russian oligarch” is and what a corrosive effect that has had on that country.  An American oligarch, especially one that is both corrupt and in an official government position, would be disastrous.
